Night Photography

June Workshop

Two-Session Workshop

 Night and Low Light

Wednesdays  7:00 - 8:30  6/20 and 6/27

This workshop provides the opportunity to become sensitive to the different times of the day, how to capture the special lighting possibilities and how to use your camera to get the effects you want.  "Day for NIght" is Hollywood's term for shooting during the day, but making it look like night. In addition you will become aware of the "magic hour" (the warm light when the sun is setting) and the "blue hour" (when the sun has just set and there is still cool light in the sky).   Finally, you will learn to shoot at night, making use of such lighting sources as neon signs, street lights, car lights, etc.

Session One:  Discussion of a wide range of picture-taking approaches

Session Two:  Review your work from the intervening week.

June Photo Salon

Sunday 3:00 - 4:30  June 24

These are very friendly, relaxed get-togethers at my apartment in Lansdowne. Photographers of all levels are welcome to share pictures, get photography tips, and discuss camera equipment. You can also get ideas for entering photography contests, submitting to photography magazines and having photo shows. Feedback from the group provides encouragement and inspiration to go out and take more pictures. These informal photography critiques offer an excellent opportunity to start identifying themes in your work and to get ideas for new directions. Group size is limited, so if you can come an RSVP is required by email or call (610) 626-7854. Cost is $10.  These Salons often fill-up, so it's best to confirm your spot early!

Photographers of the Month:

Guy and Erin Winters

About Guy and Erin:

"Guy is the proud father of Erin Winters.  Erin has a creative spirit and loves to take pictures.  She asked her father for a good camera so she could take great photographs of the things she loves—nature, animals, her friends and family—and Guy ended up buying two cameras.  Guy and Erin were lucky enough to find Owen Biddle Photography School and are now totally hooked on photography.  They have a trip to Scotland coming up where they hope to take some beautiful photos. ."

Although this father/daughter team is relatively new to DSLR photography, we know you will be impressed by all they have achieved so far.  As you can see, they went to town with the Night Photography assignment.  Their photographs radiate a warmth, an openness, a willingness to try anything which will
