July Workshop

Two-Session Photo Workshop

Lighting for Impact

Fridays 7:00 - 8:30  7/5 and 7/12

Lighting is a necessary - in fact, crucial - element photographers must consider as they go deeper into their craft.   In this short workshop you will develop your eye for color and light - its direction, its intensity and its quality (hard vs. soft).  Exploiting various light sources (windows, outdoors, lamps, studio light etc). Emphasis is on still life, interiors and portraits.  Adding light to a scene being photographed allows unseen areas to be seen and dramatic shadows thrown. In a portrait it puts the catch light in the subject's eye.  Your light illuminates both style and intent and has the power to elevate your craft to art.

Session 1:  discussion of techniques and simple lighting equipment

Session 2:  Share your work from the intervening week

Upcoming Photo Salon

Sunday 3:00 4:30  July 14

These are very friendly, relaxed get-togethers at my apartment in Lansdowne. Photographers of all levels are welcome to share pictures, get photography tips, and discuss camera equipment. You can also get ideas for entering photography contests, submitting to photography magazines and having photo shows. Feedback from the group provides encouragement and inspiration to go out and take more pictures. These informal photography critiques offer an excellent opportunity to start identifying themes in your work and to get ideas for new directions. Group size is limited, so if you can come an RSVP is required by email or call (610) 626-7854. Cost is $10.  These Salons often fill-up,

so it's best to get your spot early!
