    February Photo Field Trips

Rodin Museum

Sunday, February 9  2:00 - 3:30

This  museum, recently returned to its original European appearance, is a rich destination for photographers.  We will start by photographing Rodin’s powerful and moving sculptures, both indoors and outdoors. The site also offers wonderful architecture and landscaping.  A perfect opportunity to explore how black and white can unify many elements: live people viewing stone sculptures, vegetation against architecture etc.

Location:  Philadelphia

Pennock Woods in the Winter

Sunday,  February 16   2:00 - 3:30

This is a small nature sanctuary in Lansdowne, PA  that offers a surprising variety of photographic subjects. The stark forms of tree branches against the textures of old logs, rocks, moving water and a sandy bank provide a great chance to celebrate the season in this little-known gem. If we're lucky enough to have snow it's even more magical!   Location:  Lansdowne, PA

Photographer of the Month

Alan Simpson

Here's what Alan has to say: "I’m honored to be chosen Photographer of the Month by Rachel and Owen!  There are so many people that are more deserving...  Since going pro a few years ago, I’ve come to terms with the fact that there is little demand for pros anymore.   On the upside, I’ve learned a great deal about studio lighting and working with models. I’ve been fortunate to shoot dancers a little and street photography too!  Hope you enjoy the pics!"  Alansimpsonphotography.com.

We've had the totally satisfying experience of watching Alan's photography evolve over those years, and are thrilled to present this very strong sample of his work.  Alan's attraction to style and glamour has lead him to these creative and original pictures (They look bona-fide pro to us!! Vanity Fair, are you paying attention?).  And then Alan shows us a completely different side to his sensibilities with street shots that are both sensitive and beautiful.  Thank you Alan, for sharing this combination of pictures that are gorgeous and  moving.
